Lunch out with sister and friend

It's Friday so we decided to treat ourselves, so we traverse the Commonwealth going to UP Town.  Actually, I will treat the two (since I will be paying) to Ryu Ramen and Curry.  The traffic was so heavy that it took us almost an hour to reach the place, and we were only at the vicinity since our office is in Quezon Avenue corner EDSA.

Nevertheless, we persevere and there we were.  Luck is on us, the place is full and we have to wait for about 15 minutes (standing) Ryu Ramen and Curry in this area is relatively a small place with patronage more than it can house.  Since it was a full house, we chatted for a while.  It was my idea that maybe the food taste good since many are its customers.  Alas, we were seated and given the menu.  So we review the menu and called on the assistance, a bowl of ryutantamen, two kinds of gyoza (pork and chicken) ebi tempura, japanese fried rice  and beef tendon curry were our choices.

First to serve was the pork gyoza, with hot brown sauce, quite tasty.  The chicken gyoza was then served, more palatable than the first one (at least in my tongue).  Liz who ordered beef tendon curry was surprised, the beef curry was a bit too soupy that expected, but the meat was tender.  So it was rather on the not so so good side.  The ebi tempura with its slightly sweetened sauce goes well with japanese fried rice, love it.  The ramen was another story, it medium hot (chilli), a concoction of peanut, other seasonings, pork cutlets, noodles, egg(half-cooked boiled egg).  It was first for the three of us to taste ramen cooked that way.  The anticipation slightly dampened, as the soup tasted like a soupy kare-kare,  We eat and eat not happy but not so sad either.

As we would like to end our meal with desserts which the said place do not have, we choose the nearby cake house for the much needed sweetness.  Vanilla cake, was the quick place.

There were plenty of cupcakes and cakes and other varieties of desserts, the place was decorated with colorful and chintz chairs and tables.   We opted for blueberry cheese, walnut caramel, and red velvet cupcakes with banofee on standby.  Well, it fell short of the expectation, I dumped my order into my mouth and urged the two to do the same since we have to come back to the office.  I felt I lost a lot of money today, The food was not really tasty, well not really bad but it can be improved.

See you when we next have our meal ouside

My version of pata tim

This is Friday evening, i just came from work, before i went home, i passed by the local store to buy some of the things i need for my planned meals this Saturday.  As i am at work most of the time during the weekdays, it is only on Saturdays and Sundays that i really has the time to cook.  Well, of course i washed, sliced and seasoned the meats and fish(es) i will use for my planned meals.  Breakfast should come easy, scrambled eggs, pancakes with maple syrup and orange juice will be a good starter for a day.  I don't think there is a need to go into the details of preparing scrambled eggs and pancakes so we move for cooking the lunch.  I have started to clean pork and prepare the ingredients.   Here is how to cook pata tim. 1 pork pata (front leg) about 1.5 kilo                Procedure: 8 pcs shitake mushrooms                             ...

after the storm

Rain, rain, go away... here in the Philippines at this time of the year, the rain never stops, storms and typhoons are always nearby... water, water everywhere.  Gloomy days just like my heart, drowning in emptiness but i find hope and inspiration in knowing that there are other people whose problems are enormous but still they are standing and keeping their fingers cross hoping against hope that the next day will be a better one.  I don't enjoy seeing miserable life, its just the thought that our problems are not unconquerable, that every problem has solution, and that everything will fit the picture at the right time. I have been spending time surfing the net looking for recipe and tips on good housekeeping and articles on health.  Oh i'd like to read on and on to have something to blog about.  Hey, i am going to be an expert blogger in no time, watch me.!!!    That is why heavy rains are at times good coz i will have plenty of time reading for my blog...

Spending Sunday Afternoon with Nicole

Nicole is the daughter of my niece Emyrose who is now in Dubai.  Nicole has been with me since she was seven years old and she is now eleven and is in grade VI.  It's been a month since the school had started and the hustles of first months has taken a tool for both of us.  Buying school things, books, uniforms, shoes, bags and all the writing tools that goes with it.           And so this is the first Sunday that I can spend alone (?) i hope, but luckily, Nicole wanted to come and see the place other than the school door.  Surely, we did had a fun Sunday afternoon, shopping for some new clothes, because she has grown taller.  Ah! how time flies, we saw some tees on sale and shorts too.  But before that I did pay my bills, phone, cable and water.               We were at the Lucky Dragon Mall in Manila. Walking the aisles of the mall and looking for things...
